Orlando dominates Florida's property investment scene

2008-07-03

Orlando is continuing to dominate the Florida property investment scene for Britons, although other areas of the state are also attracting enquiries.

According to a spokesperson for website Rightmoveoverseas.co.uk, coastal areas of Florida such as Fort Myers on the Gulf Coast are receiving more attention from British property investors.

Carlo Walther, head of business development for the website, explained that Orlando's theme parks continue to attract crowds, making property in the area easy to rent out, but a growing number of people are looking for properties by the beach as "their requirements are different".

"If you were looking at stats from our site, but also feedback that we get from our clients, I’d say that 80 per cent of British buyers [who consider buying property in America] are focused on Florida," he stated.

Mr Walther also believes that Brits who are looking for property abroad are realising that "now is a good time to buy in the US" because of the current strength of sterling against the dollar.

The S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices for February 2008 indicated that property prices for ten cities in the US, including Miami, fall substantially compared with the same month last year.
